I’m just rereading the title, “My Goals As A Writer, Content Creator And Marketing Guru For 2026” and my first observation is, dude, please figure out what the heck you are!
Wait, I forgot about small business owner, freelancer web designer, Shopify store admin and, of course, artisanal jams creator.
And a professional magician for the past 19 years (my ACTUAL magician’s Instagram)!
It’s January 9th, 2026, and people are back to work.
No more booze, no more hearty meals, no more lying around the house wondering what the heck this little thing we call life is all about.
Tasks and endless meetings are about to take over, and your goldfish attention span (which is actually not a real thing, I found out) is going to be put to great trials every day.
Yet the year’s start is always about making plans.
Planning is the capability that God himself gave to us humans, just so that he could laugh at us when everything goes haywire.
He’s the Creator, so give him some slack; he deserves it!
I’d quickly identified 3 realistic goals I wish to fulfil in 2026 on a professional note. On a personal note? It’s all the same: lose weight, gain muscle, fix my teeth, buy a Prius, travel the world, and eat and not get fat.
Professionally, my main goal this year is exponential growth. Not much, but enough so that I can irreversibly live off of the “network” of little gigs and jobs that I’ve created for myself here. I am kind of done with looking for corporate jobs, and would just go back if a truly great opportunity showed up somehow.
Like working for Disney.
Or for David Blaine, in New York City.
David, please call me bro!
Until then, writing my own financial story is entirely up to me. And I’ll write it with incomensurable care, fearlessness, and hope, of course!
Goal #1: Slow&Steady Exponential Growth
We sold 250 or so jars of jams and other preserved goods in 2025 with our artisanal, family-run small business.
In 2024, that number looked more like 100 or so jars.
In 2026, our main goal is 500 jars. If we can pull this off, that’s proof we can make something out of this business.
Doubling the number of jars in a year is not exactly slow and steady, is it?
But we do have the means and the manpower, and all we need is to do it. And find 100 or so clients for the 250 extra jars, at 2,5 jars per median order.
Is that even a word, median?
I’ll check on that later.
The same goes for any other gig in my life. Double the freelancing clients as one of the main goals as a writer, and I’m at 4 instead of 2 full-time clients. Totally doable, predictable hours, even relaxed deliveries, all is well.
Goal #2: Double The Freelance Work
Speaking of freelancing…
I’m back to full-time freelancing after a long break. I’ve yet to have a freelance client, a whale, that is, since the summer of 2022.
That is almost half a century ago!
Don’t quote me on that, I feel old.
Yesterday, I did the unthinkable: I sent out my start-of-the-year freelancing email. Former clients, even former bosses, people who I’m not a fan of, people who paid late, people who did all the nasty and even do so.
Why?
Because, well, for one, there’s no business without clients, so you do have to do what you have to do to get some.
And two, I’m better prepared now.
Both for their requests and for protecting my interests should they go rogue on me.
One of my goals as a writer is to write, but also to protect my writing.
If you’re here as a small or medium business owner, and are looking for content creation, be it written or visual, click this magical button and prepare to dance in gold, kashmere and frankincense after I put my magic hands on your questionable writing.
That sounded… sounded.
Goal #3: Diversify Income Streams
The dream for any freelancer is to have multiple income streams. If you’re the kind of person who likes to put all of their eggs into one basket, you’re perfect for corporate work!
Welcome to modern slavery.
Me, I like to build stuff the hard way.
For example, I’m at close to 500 subscribers on a new YouTube channel about weird cases from Romanian folklore. Think true crime meets a pill of mystery, and everything is sprinkled with a hefty dose of Romanian justice and spirituality.
It’s a bomb, really!
I know this is going to take me a while to grow into something that will bring me actual money.
So far, I’m doing it because I love journalism, research, and video editing at least as much as mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.
Thank God there’s some dark matter left in my top bunk!
But there’s also my jams business, my freelance writing (more on that here) and my journalism work.
So, this is the actual, main goal of 2026!
Searching for valuable, quality people who need my help. And offer them my 100% every single time they write me an email with a task, a new project, whatever they need done.
This is the only way forward for us freelancers, and the world as a whole.
There are just too many people who don’t give a damn.
I’m on the other side.
My goals as a writer are to make stuff happen through writing, make magic, create the uncreated, and tell the stories that need to be told.
I care.
I love what I do!
My passion is intact.
Results will follow.
